Nadima Kafrouni-Saba has tonight been elected uncontested as the Deputy Mayor of Cumberland Council.

The “truly humbled” Greystanes ward representative, who also served as the Holroyd Deputy Mayor, fought back tears in her acceptance speech as she thanked her family. Cr Kafouni-Saba, who was campaigning while nine months pregnant, said she hoped she would inspire her children, including her daughter. “I want you to know that it is absolutely possible to follow your dreams and embrace motherhood at the same time. You never have to choose between being present for your family and pursuing your passions.” The councillor replaces fellow Liberal Michael Zaiter as the deputy
