2022 برنامج دعم المجتمع المحلّي المموّل من الوكالة الأميركية للتنمية الدوليّة (USAID) يحتفل باستكمال التدريب الوظيفي
لأربعة وعشرين طالبًا
كرّم برنامج دعم المجتمع المحلّي التابع للوكالة الأميركية للتنمية الدوليّة (USAID)، جهود 24 طالبًا جامعيًا من الدفعة الثانية لبرنامج التدريب االوظيفيوالذين ساعدوا المجتمعات اللبنانية. ويستفيد هؤلاء الطلاب البالغ عددهم 24 منالمنح الدراسية الجامعية ذات الكاملة في إطار برنامج المنح الجامعية في الجامعةالأميركية فيبيروت (AUB) والجامعةاللبنانية الأميركية (LAU) .يوفر التدريب الوظيفي للطلاب الطموحين الفرصة لاكتساب الخبرة المهنيةوالعملية للبناء على دراساتهم الأكاديمية ، مع توفير الدعم والخبرة الفنيةللبلديات. أقيم الحفل بحضور نائب رئيس البعثة في السفارةالأميركية ريتشارد مايكلز،و مديرة الوكالة الأميركية للتنمية الدولية ماري إيلينديفيت؛ مدير مكتب التنمية المحليّة التابع للوكالة الأميركية للتنمية الدولية كلودزولو ؛ ممثلين عن الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت والجامعةاللبنانية الأميركية وبرنامج CSP ،إضافة الى رؤساء وأعضاء بلديّات من أكروم ،وبرقايل، وددّه ،والقلمون (شماللبنان)، وفيسان، والخيارة (البقاع)، واتحاد بلديات الحاصباني، والقريّه (جنوبلبنان)، الذين ساعدهم الطلاب خلال فترة تدريبهم. إن هذه العلاقة بين الطلابوالبلديات التي يعززها برنامج دعم المجتمع المحلّي التابع للوكالة الأميركية للتنمية الدوليّة ،تتيح للبلديات الاستفادة من خبرة طلاب الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت والجامعةاللبنانية الأميركية بالتزامن مع تزويد الطلاب بالخبرة الميدانية وراتب مؤقت لبدءحياتهم المهنية. وسّلم القائم بالأعمال ريتشارد مايكلز شهادات تكريمللطلاب، تقديرا”لمساهمتهم بوقتهم وجهدهم في مساعدة المجتمعات المحلية وصرّح:”نحن نؤمن أن الجمع بين التعلّم وخدمة المجتمع يعزز نمو الطلاب ووالمصلحة العامة.هذا هو السبب الذي جعل التعاون بين CSP وبرنامجالمنح الجامعية ، وسيلة فعالة لتمكين الطلاب من اكتساب فهم أعمق لمفاهيم الفصولالدراسية من خلال تجربة الحياة العملية. تتوقع الوكالة الأميركية للتنمية الدوليةأن يقدم هذا البرنامج الذي تبلغ قيمته 800000 دولار تدريبًا وظيفيّا”لـ 150طالبًا مع نهاية عام 2024، ممّايعني 150 فرصة للطلاب لبدء حياتهم المهنية وترسيخ إحساسهم بالمواطنة”. كان الحفل أيضًا فرصة للإعلان عن توسيع برنامج التدريب الوظيفي ليشمل خريجي فيالجامعة الأميركية فيبيروت والجامعة اللبنانية الأميركية (وليسالطلاب فقط) ، مما سيتيح لهم دعم عائلاتهم خلال الوضع الاقتصادي المزري في لبنان. من خلال برنامج المنح الجامعية (USP)وبرنامج دعم المجتمع المحلّي (CSP) ، تواصل حكومة الولايات المتحدة التزامهاالقوي بدعم مستقبل التعليم العالي والتنمية المحلية في لبنان. PRESS RELEASEBeirut, February 22,2022 The USAID Community Support Program Celebrates theCompletion of Internships for Twenty-Four Students On February 22, the CommunitySupport Program (CSP), funded by the United States Agency for InternationalDevelopment (USAID), recognized the efforts of 24 university students whoassisted Lebanese communities during the second round of the internship program. The 24 students benefit from full meritundergraduate scholarships under the University Scholarship Program at theAmerican University of Beirut (AUB) and the Lebanese American University (LAU). The CSP internship provides aspiring USPscholars the opportunity to gain the professional and practical experience tobuild on their academic studies, while providing support and technicalexpertise to municipalities. The ceremony for the interns was held in the presence of the US EmbassyDeputy Chief of Mission Richard Michaels; USAID Mission Director Mary EileenDevitt; USAID Local Development Office Director Claude Zullo; representatives from AUB, LAU, and CSP;leaders and community members from the municipalities of Akroum, Berkayel,Dedde and Qalamoun (North Lebanon), Fissan and Khiara (Bekaa), and Al HasbaniUnion of municipalities and Qrayyeh (South Lebanon) whom the students assisted during theirinternship. The relationship betweenstudents and municipalities fostered by USAID’s CSP allows municipalities tobenefit from the expertise of AUB and LAU students while providing studentswith field expertise and a temporary salary that starts their professionallife. During the ceremony, DCM Michaelsbestowed certificates of appreciation to the students for contributing theirtime and effort to help local communities. He stated that “We truly believe that combining learning and community service canenhance both student growth and the common good. This is why the collaboration between CSP andthe University Scholarship Program is an effective avenue to enable students togain a deeper understanding of classroom concepts through real-world experience…USAIDexpects by the end of 2024 that this $800,000 program will have providedinternships to 150 students, representing 150 opportunities for students tokickstart their professional lives and deepen their sense of citizenship.” The ceremony was also anopportunity to announce the expansion of the CSP internship program to includeAUB and LAU USP graduates (and not only students), which will allow them tosupport their families during the dire economic situation in Lebanon. Throughits University Scholarship Program (USP) and Community Support Program (CSP),the US Government continues to be strongly committed to support the future ofhigher education and local development in Lebanon.
